Introduction
At The Bath, Morecambe, we are dedicated to providing an inclusive and welcoming experience for all our guests.
While our historic building presents certain challenges that prevent us from being fully accessible, we are committed to making our services and facilities as accessible as possible. Our staff are here to provide support and offer alternative solutions to ensure you have a comfortable visit.
We have written this access statement for all guests who wish to stay at The Bath Rooms or visit The Bath Tap, and is designed to give you the information you need to assess how effectively we can meet your needs.
We request that, when making an enquiry or booking, please inform us of any special requests, such as if you would prefer a room on the 1st floor. We will always strive to meet any personal requirements where possible.
Pre Arrival:
- You can contact us via telephone, email or the enquiry form on our website for any queries either before you book with us or before you arrive for your stay.
- We are located approximately 0.5 miles from Morecambe train station and bus station. The walk is mostly flat, with a 5 ft increase in elevation, and is estimated at a 3 minute walk. If you require a taxi, this can be booked in advance and local operators offer both cash and card payments for fares. Please see below the contact details for local taxi companies.

- For guests arriving into Lancaster, there are direct trains to Morecambe running up to every 30 minutes during peak season. Alternatively, the 100 bus route can be boarded from Lancaster Bus Station and is 0.4 miles from Lancaster Train Station. This walk features a moderate hill with 81ft elevation gain and a 30ft elevation decrease, and is estimated as a 15 minute walk. The closest bus stops to us are located on Marine Road Central (Eric Morecambe Memorial stop) which is a 2 minute walk away or Morecambe Bus Station which is also a 2 minute walk away.

Car Parking:
- There are 2 on street parking spaces outside the venue on Bath Street, these are free of charge public spaces and cannot be reserved prior to your arrival.
- For alternative parking options, there are several council car parks in the vicinity that offer 24 hour parking. The closest car parks with disabled spaces are West View Car Park, on West View Road – LA4 4AS (3 minute walk) and Old Station Car Park on Central Drive – LA4 4DW (5 minute walk)
Arrival & Access:
The Bath Rooms – Guest Entrance:
- Entrance to the hotel is via the guest entrance doorway at the rear of the hotel, this is accessed via the pathway at the side of the building down Bath Street and along a flat concrete slabbed pathway at the rear of the hotel. There is a pin-code access panel to the left side of the door, the code to this will be provided to you within your self-check in instructions.
- A loud beep and a light illuminates on the panel to signal the door has unlocked, there is one step to enter into the building.
- This entrance and the surrounding of the building is illuminated during the hours of darkness.
The Bath Tap – Main Entrance:
- Entrance into The Bath Tap is via the main entrance at the front of the building and has one step, followed by a set of two doors which are propped open during The Bath Tap’s opening hours, there is then a secondary door which can also be propped open if required to facilitate entry to the building.
- Due to the curvature of the step to the main entrance it is currently not possible to safely have a temporary ramp deployed for wheelchair, mobility scooters and for those with limited movement. We are actively seeking alternative solutions to the accessibility of our main entrance, which do not involve permanent alternations which may impede the use of wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs by the general on the main pathway outside of the building.
Checking In:
- Check In opens at 3pm daily.
- Self-Check In / Zero contact check in options are readily available for all guests and you will automatically receive instructions at 2:30pm on the day of your arrival via the email address that was provided at the time of booking. If you require your check in instructions to be sent via an alternative source e.g. text message – please request this with the venue directly.
- During The Bath Tap’s opening hours, in-person check in is available and can be carried out seated if required. Assistance with handling luggage to the room are readily available when staff are on site when The Bath Tap is open.
- If you require assistance with luggage on a day that The Bath Tap is closed, please contact us in advance and we will try our very best to arrange for a staff member to great you on arrival to help with access to your room.
The Bath Rooms:
- All rooms are accessible via stairs only, and are spread over 3 floors. There is no elevator on the premises, and no ground floor rooms available.
- 5 rooms are located on the 1st floor (2 Classic Double rooms, 1 Cosy Double room, 1 Superior King Room and 1 Classic Twin room) Please contact the hotel directly if you require a room on the 1st floor – we will try our best to accommodate any special requests.
- All rooms feature en-suite bathrooms with corner shower cubicles. These are accessed by 2 doors that separate in the middle on roller hinges, and have a small step up to enter.
- All corridors are well lit and short pile carpet.
- Flooring in bedrooms are short pile carpet.
- Flooring in bathroom is non slip lino.
- Ceiling lighting are guest controlled and reading lamps above the beds are provided, and can be individually switched on and off.
- A fridge is supplied in the room, and provide complimentary breakfast items.
- Bedding all non-feather, and anti-allergen bedding is used.
- Non-smoking room.
- All doors are regulation fire doors and are made from heavy wood to ensure they close and latch after use.
- The fire alarm system is sonic and does not have flashing lights. In the event of a fire or if the alarms are triggered outside of a test period, please evacuate via the guest entrance doorway. Assistance can be provided if required when staff members are on site. The fire brigade is automatically called if the fire alarm is triggered outside of a test period.
Important information for during your stay:
Any important information for during your stay will be relayed to you by a member of the team when you check in, they will show you how to access the building once the The Bath Tap has closed and explain how to check out at the end of your stay.
For guests checking in using the self-check in instructions, you can find an information booklet in your room which highlights any important information regarding checking out, the wi-fi code, and travel information for your time in Morecambe.
The Bath Tap:
- The Bath Tap is predominately on one level, with a small stage area that can be accessed via 2 steps and houses additional seating.
- The floor is level with a variation of wooden flooring and tiling around the bar.
- Moveable seating throughout. Please ask a member of staff if you require any assistance moving the furniture.
- A variation of seating: high stools with and without backs; chairs with backs and benches with backs. All seating is without arms.
- All drinks are served from the bar, but waiter service can be provided if required. Payment can also be processed at the table.
- Warm lighting is used throughout the bar area, and is at a low level during the evenings which can be dimmed if needed.
- Surround sound speakers are used to play music throughout the bar, the volume is remotely controlled and can be lower if required.
- There are 2 sets of public WC’s on the ground floor inside The Bath Tap with no steps to access and 2 doors for entry.
- There is no accessible toilet within the bar due to the structural footprint of the building.
- The fire alarm system is sonic and does not have flashing lights. In the event of a fire or if the alarms are triggered outside of a test period, please evacuate via the front entrance or out of the hotel guest entrance at the rear of the building. Fire exit signage is displayed at the exits.
- Assistance can be provided if required when staff members are on site.
- The fire brigade is automatically called if the fire alarm is triggered outside of a test period.
Additional Notes:
As a small independent hotel we are committed to providing exceptional levels of customer service. Whilst the physical limitations of the existing building may impose some constraints on what we are able to do, we fully intend to comply with current regulations and good practice procedures.
Unfortunately, due to the structural layout of the building and its location within a conservation area, it is impossible to make access to the hotel rooms accessible without stairs, in addition to the inclusion of a wheelchair accessible WC.
